A difficult month for young mothers. The first month of life of a newborn is usually called the period of adaptation. Almost 70% of the time he sleeps. Sleep is very important for the baby. In a dream, it grows (on the average in the first month the child grows by 2-3 cm), and the body gets used to the new situation. During the waking period, he waves chaotically with his hands clenched in fists and knees bent at the knee. Toward the end of the first month, the child is already able to hold his head briefly, to focus his gaze on the bright toy, the faces of adults, to make vowel sounds and listen to the conversation of others.
Pediatricians consider it important to put the baby into the mother's breast during the first two hours of life. As they believe, at this time between the baby and her mother, "emotional contact" is created. This is when the mother begins to feel the baby at a distance, his feelings, needs.
A lot of important in this period of a child's life is nutrition. On average, during the first month, a child gains about 600-700 grams. In any case, do not rush the baby during meals. After all, when he eats milk from his mother, he also enjoys the warm and caring mother at this moment.
At birth, the child has congenital reflexes, due to which he adapts to the environment. But during the first months of life, a part of them disappears. Such reflexes include the reflex:
§Sucking (touching the tongue to the object);
§ Swimming (if put his belly on the water, then he will make swimming movements);
§ Grasping (touching his hand, he squeezes her into the fist);
§ Search (search mother's breast);
§ Reflex walking (if you hold the child, then he starts to move his legs as if walking) and many others.
The following reflexes remain with the child for the rest of his life: blinking, sneezing, yawning, jerking,
It is by reflexes that pediatricians and children's psychologists determine the state and development of the child's nervous system.
And mothers in the first month of the child's life need to surround him not only with warmth, care, safety, but also to teach him by the end of the first month to the day-night regime.
In the first two weeks, do not forget to process a baby umbilical wound.
In the first months (usually up to 3 months) 80% of babies experience pain in the tummy. The child arches his back, knits and weakly weeps.
§ Weight gain of approximately 600-700 grams, in growth - 2-3 cm.
§ Eats every 2 hours, at night, on average 3-5 times.
§ Sleeps a lot, awake 2-4 hours a day.
§ Actions are still reflexive.
§ The movements are chaotic, the jaws are compressed.
§ When the child lies on his stomach, he tries to lift his head.
§ The main way to communicate with the world is crying. So the child makes it clear that he is hungry, that he has a wet diaper, that he has something hurts or that he just wants attention. The child can whimper or groan, so he also tells his mother about discomfort.
§ It is possible for some time to fix a glance at fixed objects - mother's face or hanging toy.
Reacts to loud and sharp sounds - a bell, toys, a bell. He can listen, start and even cry.
§ Mom's voice recognizes and smells, reacts to them.
§ If the child always communicates, then by the end of 1 month his own first "speech" will begin to appear.
